How can I apply?

Applications and required documents can be mailed to us. Applications are accepted Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm.

What can I take into the examination room?

Only pens, pencils and erasers. Correction fluid must not be used. You must leave anything that you do not need, or which is not allowed, in the secure room provided. Mobile phones and pagers must be switched off and placed with personal belongings. Anyone who does not switch off their phone/pager, or who retains one in their possession, will be disqualified.

Is the IELTS test completed in one day?

Yes, the test will start at 9am and finish by approximately 4pm.

When can I receive my results?

Your results will normally be mailed to the address on your application form 13 days after taking the test. Certificates may be collected from Reception at International House on that date and your passport must be shown. Certificates not collected will be posted to the address supplied on that afternoon.

What happens if I lose my test report form?

Replacement copies will not be provided to candidates. However, within 2 years of the test date, copies may be forwarded to Educational Institutions, government agencies, professional bodies or employers. An administration fee may be charged. Please contact us for further details.

How many copies of my test result am I entitled to have?

What happens if I want to postpone or cancel my application?

If you request a postponement or cancellation of your test within 5 weeks of the test date you will normally be charged the full fee unless your request is due to medical reasons and you are able to provide appropriate medical evidence to support your request within 5 days of the test date.

What happens if I am absent on the day of the test without giving prior notice?

You will lose your full test fee. However, if a medical certificate is provided within 5 days of the test date then the full fee is refunded minus a local administrative charge of 25% of the test fee.

How soon can I repeat the test?

There is no limitation on how frequently candidates can sit IELTS. It should be noted however that IELTS scores are not substantially improved merely by taking the test on multiple occasions. To significantly improve a score it is necessary to engage in further study of a serious nature.

What can I do if I am unhappy with my results?

You may apply for an enquiry on results procedure at the centre at which you took the test within four weeks of issue of results. There is a standard fee for this which is fully refunded should your score change.

What if I have special needs (e.g. hearing)?

Special needs applications must be submitted at least 3 months before the test and supporting medical evidence must be attached.
