General English courses are offered for all levels from beginner to advanced. Classes include English skills lessons and option classes. Kaplan Aspect Full time courses are available super intensive with 25 contact hours and 20 contact hours of lessons each week.

Kaplan Aspect Queensland offers expert and specialized preparation courses for Cambridge Certificates – FCE, CAE and CPE. The courses develop the General English proficiency of students and teach them the specific skills and techniques required for the exams. The courses include practice examinations. Please note that students wishing to do Cambridge courses must sit a pre-test before enrolment can be accepted.
Students will need to stay one extra week in Brisbane or Cairns for the written exams to be completed. Speaking and listening exams commence before the end of the courses.
These courses are specialized preparation courses for students who wish to take the IELTS exam. The course focuses on development of general language ability as well as providing students with skills needed to sit the exam. Practice exams are included throughout the course. Courses are 5, 10, 15 or 20 weeks in length and students study for 25 hours per week face to face.
Students wishing to undertake further studies in Australia at TAFE or University level can prepare themselves by doing an IH Queensland English for Academic Purposes course. The course runs for 5, 10, 15 or 20 weeks and students study for 25 hours per week face to face. Students will do intensive lessons focussed on academic listening, speaking, reading and writing. There is also a strong emphasis on study skills including research and note taking; summarizing information; assignment writing and preparation of presentations (written and oral). This course is only available at Kaplan Aspect Brisbane.
Students completing the EAP course at Kaplan Aspect can gain direct entry into programs at schools, colleges and universities in Australia. Please contact Kaplan Aspect Queensland for complete details on the direct entry pathways for Kaplan Aspect students.
The Kaplan Aspect Queensland Christmas Course is designed to allow students to experience a true Aussie Christmas. Students spend a summer Christmas holiday with an Australian family and improve their English with part time lessons. The package course also includes a range of cultural activities and excursions. Homestay accommodation is included in the program price.
Kaplan Aspect has signed agreements with vocational and tertiary institutions in Queensland so that Kaplan Aspect students may move directly from English to a range of academic programs at certificate or diploma levels and then onto degree level study at University. Students do not need to do an IELTS test for direct entry pathways.
The pathway programs guarantee entry to these courses provided the student graduates from our advanced level at Kaplan Aspect Queensland and meets all other academic criteria for entry.
Pathway programs are available to government and non-government institutions and courses available include business, IT, engineering, university foundation, hospitality and hotel management, graphic design, natural medicine, fashion design, nursing etc. Please contact IH Queensland for specific information on the chosen courses.
The Cambridge CELTA course provides pre-service training in teaching English to adults. Graduates from the program receive the most widely recognized initial language teaching qualification. A “B” pass on the CELTA allows graduates to apply for teaching positions with the IH World Organisation’s network of schools. Candidates applying for the CELTA course must complete a written language task and attend an interview at Kaplan Aspect Queensland. Phone interviews also available. Once accepted onto the course, successful applicants must pay a non-refundable deposit of $650 (this includes text books). The course runs for 4 weeks full time, or part-time for 12 weeks.
Candidates are advised that the course is very intensive and should not be undertaken unless the candidate can devote themselves fully to the program and required study.
Post CELTA teacher training courses written by International House World Organisation (IHWO) are also available: IH Language Awareness Course (LAC), IH Certificate in Teaching Young Learners (CYL) and the IH Certificate in Advanced Methodology (CAM). Kaplan Aspect Queensland offers a range of study tour and professional development programs for teachers from other countries. The programs are tailor made for groups or individuals wishing to improve their English language proficiency and teaching methodology.
A specialist four week program to train people in teaching English to young learners. Students study for 25 hours per week and participate in a variety of activities covering design and development of resources for teaching children; course planning; classroom management; teaching speaking, reading and writing in fun and exciting ways and using games and activities in the classroom. The program includes in class teaching practice; classroom observation and lesson assessments. A visit to a children’s activity session or child care centre is included in the program. This course is available at Kaplan Aspect Brisbane only.
Students do teaching practice and classroom observation sessions; lesson design and planning; resource production for young classrooms and classroom management sessions.
This course is available in Cairns, Brisbane and Sydney. A personalized program of study where the student lives with the teacher and studies lessons designed specifically for them. Lessons are intensive and the program is suited to students who want to focus on specific areas of language or language skills for a specific purpose.
In addition to the daily lessons, students participate as a member of the teacher’s family or home and will

Courses can be arranged for one to one or two to one study and students may choose from 15, 20, 25 or 30 hours of study per week. Specialist Business English Intuition courses are also available. The minimum course length is 1 week. Airport transfers are available on request– fees apply for Brisbane and Sydney.

Kaplan Aspect Cairns offers a package program combining English lessons with a PADI Open Water Dive course. At the end of the program the student will have developed some more General English skills and obtained their open water dive licence. The course includes class room lessons, dive theory lessons, pool diving sessions and then open water dives on the Great Barrier Reef. A night dive is also included if the weather is suitable. Please see our separate flyer for complete information. All students must complete the medical questionnaire before applying for the course.
This is an exciting supplementary course that can be added to your General English program or booked as a separate activity for the traveller.
As you travel you also study English. A small group with their teacher travel around Far North Queensland and do lessons on location in the various places that the tour stops. The package includes all transport in a four wheel drive vehicle, accommodation on the tour, all meals, English tuition and course materials as well as excursions and a rainforest walk while on the tour. The tour leaves Cairns on a Sunday morning and returns to Cairns on the following Saturday afternoon.
Study Tour Programs are offered throughout the year at Kaplan Aspect Brisbane and Kaplan Aspect Cairns. All programs are designed to suit the student groups and can be designed to suit any budget or group interest. Specific study tours involving sports coaching , business interests and professional development topics are available too. Kaplan Aspect Queensland offers tailored one to one or one to two lessons for students. These lessons focus specifically on the needs of the students. The topics covered and the content of each lesson can be chosen to suit the students’ needs. Times and days of lessons can also be selected. Special lessons for executives and senior travellers can also be arranged.
A program designed to allow students to experience the unique heritage and wildlife of Australia through volunteering for a conservation project. Students can undertake some English study at Kaplan Aspect Brisbane or Kaplan Aspect Cairns and then do their volunteer project anywhere in Australia.
Projects include work in national parks, wildlife tagging, tree planting, building of fences and boardwalks etc. Students receive full training, accommodation (camping) and meals during the volunteer project. Students will meet other volunteers from Australia and overseas when they undertake a project. The program is open to participants aged 18-70.

A program specifically designed for students aged 8-15 years. Kaplan Aspect Queensland provides this program in both its schools for 1, 2, 3 or 4 weeks over the July - August holiday period. The programs combine English lessons specifically suited to the young learner with a range of activities and excursions. The program enables the students to enjoy their holiday period while learning new skills and experiencing a different culture and lifestyle.
The package programs include all tuition and materials, homestay accommodation with meals, daily transport to and from school and all activities as per the program outline. Please note that a minimum of 6 students is required to run the program and IH reserves the right to cancel the program if there are less than 6 bookings.
