BRISBANE

Our Brisbane college is a vibrant and exciting school delivering a wide range of courses to students from all around the world. Our students come from many different countries in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Latin America and the Pacific. The school provides every student with individual attention throughout their studies to ensure that students reach their study goals.  Our qualified and experienced staff are there to assist students in all matters. The warm, friendly environment of the school means students feel at home from their first day.

Location

Brisbane is located in a modern high-rise building in the heart of the central business district of Brisbane. The central location provides easy access to public transport. Central Railway Station is 7 minutes walk from the school, Riverside Ferry Stop is just across the road and the city bus stops are located between 5-10 minutes walk from IH Brisbane.

The main shopping area in Brisbane city is the Queen Street Mall and this is just two blocks from the school.  Cafes, cinemas, restaurants, the Botanic Gardens and Southbank Beach and Parklands are all within walking distance from the school.

School Facilities

The school is located on floors 1, 2 & 3 of the building. The school is air-conditioned and classrooms are bright and roomy with views of the Brisbane River or the city area. All classrooms have modern décor, furniture and teaching equipment. There are two computer rooms set up with current model computers with high speed internet and email access. The school also has wireless internet throughout every floor so students can bring their own laptops and use these at any time. All internet and email access is free of charge for students.

A large student lounge with café tables and chairs is located within the school and a kitchenette with microwaves, vending machines and a refrigerator for students to use is included.  There is a DVD/Recreation Room with a plasma screen for watching movies and games tables for student use.

Qualified and Experienced Staff

Brisbane has a wonderful team of teachers and administration staff who are available to assist students with every aspect of their study and their stay in Brisbane.
All of our staff ensure that every student gets personal attention throughout their course.  Our administration team can help students with information about Brisbane, transport, accommodation, health and welfare, further study plus much more.

Brisbane teachers are among the best in the field of English teaching. The college places great importance on the professional development of our teaching team and all staff are encouraged to implement new and modern teaching methods learnt from the group of schools or through other programs of professional development. All of our teachers are native speakers of English. They are qualified and experienced in teaching students from all around the world.  Many of our teaching staff have lived and worked in other countries. Brisbane teachers have university degrees, specialist English language teaching qualifications and teaching experience.

Brisbane is a fully accredited by NEAS (National ELT Assessment Scheme) in Australia and is registered on the Commonwealth Register of International Courses for Overseas Education (CRICOS). We are a member of the Australian Council for Private Education and Training.

Brisbane Classes and Students

At Brisbane, we welcome students from all around the world. About half of our students come from Europe, Latin America and the Middle East and half come from Asia. This wonderful nationality mix together with our strict “ENGLISH ONLY” policy means students get more opportunities to use English and learn the language faster. Our class sizes at Brisbane are kept small to ensure personal focus on students. Our General English classes have a maximum of 15 students per class with the average class size being 13. Our Cambridge Exam Classes have a maximum class size of 12.

School Services

Brisbane offers a complete service for all students. Services available include:

• Accommodation Placement – we can arrange homestay, student houses, backpacker lodges, apartments, hotels and share accommodation
• Airport Transfers – from Brisbane Domestic or International terminals
• Job Club and Job Placement – assistance in finding a job or actual placement in a job.
• Activity Club – tours, sports competitions, trips and activities organised by the school every week. Our staff can also assist students with individual travel plans, flights and sightseeing.
• Academic Counselling – advice and assistance in undertaking further study at Australian Universities and Colleges
• Examinations – our staff can book students for the IELTS, TOEIC, TOEFL and Cambridge Exams on request. Some of the exams are conducted at IH Brisbane.
